Dear Owners,

We have received several reports of suspicious individuals wandering around Playa Bastian, possibly intending to occupy or rob a property.

It seems they have been leaving marks to indicate some properties which are vacant. (Eg tape over doorbells)

Some owners have seen them and have chased them away and notified the police, which, we believe has been crucial in preventing break-in.

Please, if you see anything suspicious, act immediately and help us all. (Photos, videos, descriptions all potentially useful)

Our staff are alert, but the individuals rarely appear during working hours.

The police do not provide security in a private complex, however, they will come if someone notifies them of seeing someone suspicious on the premises.

As before we recommend that all owners arrange their own security/alarm service for their properties, especially those that are regularly unoccupied.

Central Road Closure on 27th May

On Tuesday the 27th May the central road will be closed from 10am till 2pm.
Contractors will be working on the road doing the road speed signs and crossings/signage.

Pool Fencing Work

Please be aware that the aluminium parts of the pool fencing will be completed on both pools next Tuesday the 13th May.

Clearly disruption will be caused that day with the works so if at all possible please stay away from the two pool areas when the work is in progress.

Zone D committee

Cat food bowls by Los Amigos

Although we have tried to stop people putting out cat food by Los Amigos the committee has had to officially ban this activity as we now have reports of rats feeding in the area. This is obviously undesirable and a health hazard.
If you see anyone trying to feed strays please explain that this is not allowed by instruction of Zone D Committee. We will continue to remove any containers that may appear.

Playa Bastian TV Systems:  UK Channels

•Systems in both Zone C/Casas Verdes and Zone D are all suffering from loss of the UK Channels resulting from some changes made by the distributor.

•We are working to overcome this issue but this may take some time.

Water and garden maintenance

Especially for the benefit of new owners the Committee would politely like to remind everyone that we can only water gardens once a week. The maintenance team do not have the time to do it more often and water is now very expensive so doubling the bill is not possible.
If you believe there is an issue with watering in your area then talk to Maribel and we will get the pipework checked out. Please do not start adjusting it yourself as this could have a negative effect on your neighbour’s gardens.
Finally, the complex is built on old salt marshes so the quality of soil varies across the site and in some areas nothing much will grow however much water you apply.

There is an ongoing site maintenance plan that Maribel updates every day with Miguel which may change in the event of an emergency such as a water leak. If you would like some work in your garden then let Maribel know and it will be put on the schedule as soon as possible. Please do not ask Miguel directly.

Zone D Committee

Here are the sketches of the proposed pool fencing which have been sent out with the 2025 AGM minutes.

Swimming pool repairs
This work is taking longer than anticipated as once the pool was emptied of water additional cracks were identified which need to be repaired. The work is ongoing and we hope to have the pool back in use later next week.

Please be aware that the pool by the T’s and V’s will be unavailable from Monday 23rd September.
We have identified a crack in the liner at the bottom of the pool which requires urgent repair, not least to avoid the cost of lost water. There are also repairs needed to the pool steps.
Whilst the repairs are only expected to take a day we need to empty and refill which will mean the pool will likely be out of use for the full week.
The pools by Los Amigos and the top pool will be available as normal for residents.
