It has come to my attention that the Pool Guard was asked by a Zone D owner to remove a Zone C owner from one of our pools. Can I make it quite clear that we have a reciprocal arrangement with Zone C, meaning we can use their pool and they in turn can use ours.

Some of the owners  have contacted us  to complain that the pools have been invaded by “mosquitoes”. This is apparently affecting many pools in the Costa Teguise area. We have been told that this plague of  insects has come over from  Africa and they look like mosquitos, but can also swim.

Unfortunately  we have also been told that there is very little that can be done. Even the chlorine treatment is ineffective. However we expect that in  a few days when the temperature drops the insects will disappear.  We have also been reassured that these insects do  not bite.

The Board has agreed to pay 318 euro as a share of the cost of extending the Boundary Fence at Casa J on the North Side,  as several people are entering and leaving the complex at this point.  The costing was decided on the same basis as the Boundary Fence by 207.

Sleeping Policemen are currently being fitted to three places on the centre road.  Zone C will be contributing their share of the costs.

Just a little reminder about our Pool etiquette on Playa Bastian.

Would all owners kindly remember that placing towels on sun beds to ‘reserve’ them in their absence is not acceptable, especially at this time of year. Please respect that other owners and their guests are equally entitled to use them, this being the case any unattended towels and effects may be removed at the owners risk. Would owners please advise any guests that may be using their property.”

The ramp between 45 and 54 is almost completed and the owners are pleased with the result.

Owing to the speed of cars, cycles and skate boards, 3 sleeping policemen have been ordered and will be fitted in the next few weeks to the centre road.  This is after several complaints from the Residents ref speeding on the road.

It is our intention to remove the steps in front of property No. 54 and install a ramp at the request of an owner who currently has difficulty climbing the steps.

Defective light in pool by Los Amigos to be rewired owing to frequent fault occurring.

Treatment of Hibiscus continuing to combat fungus and whitefly.

Door closure at promenade gate has been removed and replaced with rising butt hinges.  This should save any further maintenance and achieve the same results.

Today the Electricity supply was off on the whole Island at approx 8 am and was reinstated at approx 10.30 am.  This also meant all the TV channels needed retuning and I would like to thank Hedley Smith for spending his time in carrying out this task.

As many of you may know we have problems with infestation to our Palm Trees.  One has been removed and the advice is to fumigate the remaining trees.  We have asked Alexis to quote for this work and below are the figures.  Should we go ahead the work will be started in the next few weeks.

Price list from Alexis to fumigate the palm trees

Large  10€ each
Medium   7€
Small   5€

plus 7% IGIC

This includes the product and the warning signs.

Usual Gardening and Maintenance work is ongoing as normal, with currently no outstanding projects being carried out.  There has been only one problem with the street lights and this has been fixed.

Following San Juan yesterday, Luis has checked the Beach for Zone D’s sun beds and the rest of the complex for any damage resulting from San Juan.  No problems  reported at all, a perfectly normal night.

Luis visited the complex between 11 and 11.30 pm last night and the zone was quiet.  As you may know Luis made several phone calls to the Town Hall regarding San Juan to ensure we were totally aware of any potential problems on the night.
