We have now continued to replace the old street light cable.  On the first run we found the lighting manhole has been covered in six inches of Concrete and the cables concreted in.  This unfortunately costs time and money and obviously we have to re route new cable.

We are currently rewiring the swimming pool lights to both pools as the wiring is faulty.  Partly through water getting into the cable.

We also intend to install 2 street lights to Pool no.2 i.e. HPB side, as this area is dark especially when the pool lights are out.

Extra Sun Bed covers have been ordered to replace worn bed covers.

I have noticed one or two plants suffering with what appears to be possible Bleach going by the smell.  Please be careful should you wash your terrace with a bleach NOT to throw the water around the Plants.

We have turned on the Heat Pumps to both Pools.

Currently 50% of the complexes Hibiscus have to be treated for the mealy bug/whitefly.  Where the owners are requesting removal of the Hibiscus this is being carried out.

The three speed bumps fitted to the main road are working well.

Luis has returned from Holiday so normal service has resumed.

Hedley  Smith is retuning TVs on an almost daily basis now.  I trust you all appreciate his efforts.

Unfortunately we still have issues with Canal Gestian although currently the system is working okay.

We are still dealing with the infestation on the Hibiscus.  The experts advise is to spray every fifteen days and two days later wash off the plants.  It takes several days to complete this task and is obviously so labour intensive that we cannot keep up with other gardening work.

The only way to achieve a successful resolution to the problem is to employ a fourth person on a temporary basis to carry out the required work on the Hibiscus and to release the gardeners for their normal work.

Where owners have requested we have removed Hibiscus that are affected by the infestation.

We have recently replaced old coaxial cable in 2 areas where they had suffered degradation owing to exposure to the sun.

The sleeping policemen appear to be having the desired affect.

It has come to my attention that the Pool Guard was asked by a Zone D owner to remove a Zone C owner from one of our pools. Can I make it quite clear that we have a reciprocal arrangement with Zone C, meaning we can use their pool and they in turn can use ours.

Some of the owners  have contacted us  to complain that the pools have been invaded by “mosquitoes”. This is apparently affecting many pools in the Costa Teguise area. We have been told that this plague of  insects has come over from  Africa and they look like mosquitos, but can also swim.

Unfortunately  we have also been told that there is very little that can be done. Even the chlorine treatment is ineffective. However we expect that in  a few days when the temperature drops the insects will disappear.  We have also been reassured that these insects do  not bite.

The Board has agreed to pay 318 euro as a share of the cost of extending the Boundary Fence at Casa J on the North Side,  as several people are entering and leaving the complex at this point.  The costing was decided on the same basis as the Boundary Fence by 207.

Sleeping Policemen are currently being fitted to three places on the centre road.  Zone C will be contributing their share of the costs.

Just a little reminder about our Pool etiquette on Playa Bastian.

Would all owners kindly remember that placing towels on sun beds to ‘reserve’ them in their absence is not acceptable, especially at this time of year. Please respect that other owners and their guests are equally entitled to use them, this being the case any unattended towels and effects may be removed at the owners risk. Would owners please advise any guests that may be using their property.”
