Committee Members and Administrative Staff 2026.
Paul Cowling
Paul Cowling - President

I’d like to thank the community for providing the opportunity to represent Zone D as their President. I look forward to doing my very best for all the owners in continuing to serve on the board and helping, wherever possible, to ensure our community continues to flourish. There are always lots of things to do, we have a great team and we will continue to look after our complex as best we can.

Linda and I bought our property in 2015 so are still relative newcomers to Lanzarote but we love it. We are both now retired, In 2020 I managed to leave full time employment after 35+ years in the electricity generation business, most recently in offshore wind. It’s now part of ‘the plan’ to spend more time as well as extended periods in Lanzarote as we try and understand retirement!

Hi. I'm Bev. I'm delighted to have been approached to put my name forward for consideration to join the team in supporting the owners of Playa Bastian Zone D.
For the benefit of those who do not know me personally, my husband Brian and | consider ourselves so fortunate to own a home here in this beautiful island. We are located in the Ts and Vs and consider ourselves really lucky to be able to escape to our own little piece of paradise on a regular basis.
| have lead a diverse working life over the years interspersed with bringing up our family and supporting my husband in our various family businesses. Latterly, | worked at the UK headquarters of Yves Saint Laurent, and later Gucci International. | organised launch parties and special events all over the country. | considered myself very lucky to be surrounded by people with so much talent, creativity, positivity and imagination, much like our very own Committee!
Now I'm retired, it's time to sit back and enjoy the sunshine. Or so | thought, until this opportunity arose. Now | find myself thinking it would be really great to give something back and to help with the smooth running of our complex. Its a pleasure and a privilege to be considered to join the Committee and | hope to have the opportunity to support them as they work to maintain and improve our wonderful Playa Bastian compiex.
I list below the positive points | will bring to the table.
Coffee and walnut cake and a positive attitude
Many years experience in customer care and dealing with challenges in business.
Excellent communication skills. | enjoy interacting with people.
Experience in mediation due to my Counselling training.
A background in sales and marketing.
The ability to get the best out of people.
The ability to encourage people to become involved due to many years of leading a team in business. My sense of humour.
Since retirement, | have been raising funds for various charities, organising events and co-ordinating teams of volunteers. I'm calm in a crisis and a wizard at getting things done.
| love this island and Playa Bastian is very special to me. It is an immense privilege to be able to work with the Committee to maintain and enhance our complex.

Gregor Hartmaier
Gregor Hartmaier, Board Member

I have been closely connected to Lanzarote since 1976, having spent my holidays on the island every year from an early age.
In 2000, my wife Elif and I made Lanzarote our permanent home, and in 2003 we got married here on the island. In 2015, we bought our bungalow 24 in Playa Bastian, where I have since become an active member of the community.
Professionally, I am self-employed as a web designer and system administrator. It is a pleasure to be part of the committee, and I look forward to contributing to the community.

Stefan
Stefan Fischer, Board Member

Having been a resident together with my wife Doris in this wonderful community since 2017, I have developed a deep appreciation for the mix of cultures and languages represented here. The good weather and the fantastic landscape of Lanzarote fits perfectly to my hobbies of cycling and running. With a University Degree in Finance I worked my whole life in financing and administration in different economic sectors. I co-founded several Biotechnology Start Ups in Germany, so I have relevant experience in organizational management, leadership and financial oversight. I’m happy to be part of the board to maintain and develop the community of Playa Bastian Zone D.
I look forward to working with the rest of the team, helping to build on a great base to overcome future challenges and develop a secure long term future for the site.

My wife and I have been visiting Playa Bastian for over 30 years. Initially as bond holders in HPB and for the last 20+ years as owners on Zone D and like the other board members we developed a passion for Lanzarote and Playa Bastian in particular. Consequently we have introduced many of our friends and relatives to the island and now they are regular visitors too.
Unfortunately my wife passed away in early 2024, but I still intend to visit Playa Bastian for 4 months a year or more spread out over winter and summer. I retired in 2009 and I now feel I have the time to devote to repaying some of the work done on our behalf by our volunteer board over the last 20 years. After completing BSc in ceramics I have had a career in the UK manufacturing industry working for major suppliers to the steel and other heat using industries. It was in the latter stages of my career that I was appointed Managing Director of the UK sales company of a major French manufacturing company. It is during my career that I have developed skills in problem solving, organisational systems and problem analysis.
I am very grateful for the opportunity to represent my fellow owners and to work with the other board members to ensure we have a complex in Zone D in which we are proud.

Yolanda
Yolanda Egusquiza Arjona, Administrator

Yolanda joined the team in 2009 as our Bookkeeper. Yolanda is a highly qualified professional and from March 2023 became the Administrator for Zone D, taking over the role from Brian Purdue.

Yoli, as she is known can be found in the office above reception and will now play a major role in the day to day running of the Community. She will still happily receive community fees and water payments from owners and will help those wanting to pay by the much preferred direct debit.

Luis Silva
Maribel Morales Machin, Reception

Maribel was born in Lanzarote, although her whole family comes from the small Island of La Graciosa. She lives in Costa Teguise and is in Reception to help you with whatever you may need
